Symptoms Of Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer

Worried you, or someone you know, has cervical cancer?  I understand what you are going through.  Women every day can pass up symptoms of cervical cancer without knowing it, and I was one of them.  After sex I would have very heavy discharge, and then bleed for a few days after.  Also, it always seemed to smell down there, but I just thought it was normal and washed it constantly.  Turned out I had second stage cervical cancer, so I am here for you.

I am now on a mission to help women become more educated on the symptoms and signs of cervical cancer because it is so easy to spot in its early stages, and if it is caught early then the survival rate is very high at 99%.

Common symptoms of cervical cancer is abnormal bleeding or vaginal bleeding after intercourse.  This can happen right after intercourse and last for two to three days.   You also may experience watery, bloody discharge.  Some women will describe it as watery, pinkish discharge, or they have yellow discharge as well, so if your discharge is any abnormal color (not white or clear), then you may want to consider seeing a doctor.

Foul odor is also very common.  The odor is normally in the discharge, but it will also smell in your vagina too.  I dismissed mine because it was always right after my menstrual cycle, so I thought it had something to do with that, it turns out, no.  So if you are having any abnormal smells or colors coming from your vagina, make sure you are getting your Pap smear tests in regularly.

Women with cervical cancer very often experience pelvic pain.  Women will describe this as their period cramps x 100 or remind them of pregnancy.  Some women have more than just cramps and pains that reflect an extremely bad period.  It is common for women to experience longer and heavier periods when they have cervical cancer.  You also may experience pain during urination.

The bottom line is, if anything is going on abnormally with your vagina, then you definitely want to make sure you get in for yearly Pap smear tests.  Many women put them off, but they seriously regret it later.  The problem will not just “go away,” if you do not do anything about it; it will worsen.

Be sure not to diagnose yourself.  Do not go around thinking you have cervical cancer before you are tested and before the doctor says you do.  There are many other explanations for these same symptoms, but you would much rather be safe than sorry, trust me.

Cervical cancer can be prevented very easily.  By going to yearly Pap smears, if you were to develop any unusual or precancerous cells, then they would find them and be able to remove them before they ever become cancer.  So never be afraid to go to your doctor, only be afraid if you do not go to your doctor.  Even if you have not been to the doctor’s in years, you should still go to either relief yourself because nothing is wrong, or to get everything taken care of before it gets worse.
